Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10th December – the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR): a milestone document proclaiming the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Available in more than 500 languages, it is the most translated document in the world.
The theme for 2019 is ‘Youth Standing up for Human Rights’, highlighting the leadership role of the youth, as they are the inspiration for a better future. The company wants to encourage not only the youth, but everyone across the world to stand up for their rights against; racism, hate speech, bullying and discrimination.
An individual’s ‘human rights’ are based on important principles such as; fairness, dignity, respect and equality. It’s crucial that businesses and individuals recognise a person’s; right to live, right to health, education, freedom of speech, thoughts and equal rights, not only for today, but every day.
On Tuesday the 10th of December, Auctus Management Group Ltd (AMG) and its subsidiary businesses; RSS Infrastructure Ltd and INFRA Skills Ltd showed their support for ‘International Human Rights Day’ by sharing educational material, as well as offering advice and guidance to any staff member looking for personal and professional support. It is crucial for all employers to take human rights within the workplace extremely seriously, and AMG want to ensure that their employees, and subsidiary company’s employees and workforce, feel their professional environment is a fair and safe space.
