Global Light Rail Awards Win for Fingerprint Drug Testing

Auctus Management Group (AMG) has been named Supplier of the Year at the prestigious Global Light Rail Awards in London, recognising its pioneering introduction of Fingerprint Drug Testing (FDT) to the light rail sector.

The award highlights AMG’s commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence within the UK’s infrastructure sector. Fingerprint Drug Testing is already being used by major UK tram operators, including Croydon Tram depot, Edinburgh Trams, and NET Nottingham Trams, with more operators expected to follow.

Transforming Workplace Testing

Developed as a faster, cleaner, and more dignified alternative to traditional urine or saliva testing by Intelligent Fingerprinting, FDT analyses sweat from all ten fingertips to detect recent drug use. Results are available in just ten minutes, enabling employers to conduct screenings quickly and efficiently.

Unlike conventional testing methods, FDT is non-invasive, hygienic, tamperproof, and digitally traceable, making it ideally suited for safety-critical environments such as tram and rail operations. The system removes the need for clinical facilities, specialist staff, and laboratory processing, significantly reducing both disruption and cost.

Testing can be carried out on-site, with up to six individuals screened in under 20 minutes. This makes it an ideal solution for both pre-employment and random testing programmes, supporting operators in maintaining compliance, deterring misuse, and promoting safer working environments.

A Step Forward for the Sector

The introduction of Fingerprint Drug Testing represents a significant step forward for workplace safety and compliance in the rail and light rail sectors. The technology not only enhances detection accuracy but also improves the overall testing experience for employees — offering a more respectful and transparent process that aligns with modern wellbeing standards.

Richard Toy, Chief Executive Officer at Auctus Management Group, said:

“From the moment I was introduced to fingerprint drug testing, I recognised its potential to transform safety assurance in the Rail and Light Rail sectors. It’s faster, cleaner, and far more respectful to the individual being tested — exactly the kind of innovation the industry needs. Our vision is to see this become the standard across the entire Rail sector, ensuring every operator has access to a solution that enhances compliance while supporting operational efficiency.”

Driving Innovation in Infrastructure

The award reflects AMG’s broader mission to combine innovation with practical solutions that improve safety, productivity, and sustainability across the UK’s infrastructure network.

Through its subsidiary RSS Infrastructure, the Group delivers a comprehensive range of services spanning arboriculture, civils and construction, rail operations, and welding. Alongside its technical capabilities, AMG also provides bespoke induction programmes and workplace testing solutions designed to help clients maintain compliance and foster safer working cultures.

Looking Ahead

As adoption of Fingerprint Drug Testing grows, Auctus Management Group continues to work closely with operators, regulators, and partners to demonstrate how innovative, non-invasive testing methods can enhance safety and efficiency industry-wide.

The recognition at the Global Light Rail Awards cements Auctus Management Group’s position as a forward-thinking leader committed to improving standards across the rail and light rail sectors — one innovation at a time.
