On Thursday, 17th April 2025, the teams from RSS Infrastructure and GMI Construction laced up their boots for a spirited Charity Football Match at Sportsco Football Club. But this was about more than the final score — it was about community, compassion, and making a difference for vulnerable children.
The match delivered plenty of drama on the pitch, with RSSI sealing a hard-fought 5–2 victory. Captain Gavin Hurren proudly lifted the trophy, while goalkeeper Kenny Welch earned Man of the Match honours after a stunning performance between the posts.
Off the pitch, the evening buzzed with a real family-friendly atmosphere. Attractions like inflatable slides, local stalls, and a lively appearance from Perry the Bull made sure there was fun for everyone. The true winner of the evening, however, was the cause itself.
So far, the event has raised over £2,850 — and counting — in support of Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust. Donations are continuing to roll in through GoFundMe and Amazon Wishlist, providing vital supplies and comfort to children entering the care system.
Special thanks go to Alex, Dawn, and Natalie from Birmingham Children’s Trust for their support, and to Sarah Scott, Jenn Byrne, Leanda Waring, and Emma Belgrave, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the day to make the event a success.
Reflecting on the occasion, Sarah Scott shared:
“It was so positive to see people coming together to support children in care and to work alongside Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust. Events like this help forge new partnerships and friendships. I’d like to thank everyone who came along to support the match, as well as the team at Sportsco and the stallholders who gave the whole evening a real sense of community and fun.”
We are proud to support organisations making a tangible difference to young lives. Together, we’re building a brighter future.
