Richard Toy, CEO of Auctus Management Group Ltd (AMG), has been recognised for his outstanding achievements, forward thinking and strong leadership in the Finance Monthly CEO Awards 2018. This annual award celebrates the accomplishments of some of the most respected CEO’s globally, across various sectors and industries.
Nominations for this award are put forward anonymously, and then handpicked by Finance Monthly’s research team, to source the most ambitious and hard-working CEO’s currently within the corporate world.
Throughout Richard’s 30-year career working within the recruitment and infrastructure sectors there has been a significant number of successes that include the launch of SkyBlue for Carillion, which achieved a £118m turnover, and the formation of Auctus Management Group Ltd in 2012, which now includes two other subsidiary business INFRA Skills Ltd and RSS Infrastructure (previously known as Rail Safety Solutions and Auctus Training Solutions).
From the very beginning Richard’s vision was to develop a professionally trained workforce that supports the corporate and social responsibility agenda, developing strong working links with the armed forces, disability programmes, ex-offenders and local community engagement initiatives. This ultimately led to the creation of INFRA Skills Ltd which is now helping to reduce the industry age and skills gap. The company has received a ‘Gold’ standard from NSAR for its rail training and is also able to deliver; Lantra, Health and Safety, CITB, Apprenticeships and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training.
Richard also foresaw the role technology would play within the industry and purchased RSS Infrastructure, and took it from a small Track Warning and Labour business and transformed it into a multi-million-pound organisation that today has a workforce of over 300 people. The company now offers a vast array of services that include; Welding, Overhead Line Electrification, Vegetation Management, Road Rail Access Points and Level Crossings, Civils/Construction solutions, Safety Critical Resource Services, Magnetic Safety Barrier Fencing, Magnetic Points Boards, Signalling Services as well as being the UK’s sole provider of Track Warning Systems.
Whilst at SkyBue (Carillion’s recruitment business), Richard’s ingenuity and initiative resulted in the company becoming the first recruitment company to achieve ‘Proud to be Clear Assured’ status for its commitment to disabled talent and continued to win recruitment awards year on year resulting in the company becoming, at the time, one the UK’s largest recruitment agencies.
Talking about the award Richard said, “Being named CEO of the Year is a tremendous honour. However, the most important asset of any business is the people and the success that Auctus Management Group, and its subsidiary companies, have achieved has been down to the expertise and tireless efforts that our talented workforce and staff complete every day. On behalf of the team, I humbly accept this award from Finance Monthly magazine.”
