Committing To ‘Earn and Learn’ By Joining The 5% Club

We Join The 5% Club & Commit To ‘Earn and Learn’

Auctus Management Group Ltd and subsidiary businesses have showcased their commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focused on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.

The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 300 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries, from engineering through to the legal sector.

Auctus Management Group Ltd, and subsidiary companies RSS Infrastructure Ltd and INFRA Skills Ltd, are aware of the skills shortage and youth unemployment within the UK, and are striving to make a change, acknowledging the importance of developing this area of employment for the success of both their business and the UK as a whole.

By joining the 5% Club they have pledged to work towards a minimum of 5% of their workforce enrolled on formalised Apprenticeships, Sponsored Students and/or Graduate Development Schemes, within the next 5 years. Having already met this target with 3 Apprentices and 12 Sponsored Students working within their business, they are already planning on expanding on these figures in the near future.

What Has Been Said About The 5% Club?

Richard Toy, CEO commented on their achievement.

“With a skills shortage and aging workforce being extremely predominant within the rail sector, we are determined to lead the way in integrating young talent into our workforce. Having already reached our 5% target, we have plans in place to continue to develop our staff and further increase the number of ‘earn and learn’ opportunities within our business, investing in the future industry leaders.”

Lady Cobham, Director General of The 5% Club said.

“We’re delighted to welcome Auctus Management Group Ltd into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR professionals, sharing and learning from each other.  All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”

AMG currently have 8 apprentices as part of their workforce, completing programmes ranging from a Level 2 to a Level 6, including 5 apprentices who are completing their Level 2 ‘Tramway Construction Operative’ on the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA). As well as this, their team includes 1 sponsored student studying a CIPD Level 5 and 11 others completing an ILM Level 3 & Level 5.  AMG now have plans in place to recruit an additional 6 apprentices into RSS Infrastructure, enrolling them onto the Rail Engineering Level 3 programme.

By committing themselves to The 5% club, AMG aim to ensure their staff are working within an environment where they are supported and encouraged, all employees are offered support to expand their knowledge and skillset to further themselves and their career.
