At Auctus Management Group, we understand the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive work environment. We are proud to announce that we have officially become a Fostering Friendly employer, joining a nationwide initiative led by The Fostering Network, the UK’s leading fostering charity.
What Does It Mean to Be a Fostering-Friendly Employer?
Being recognised as a Fostering Friendly employer demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting those who play a critical role in the lives of children and young people in care. This status reflects our commitment to family-friendly workplace practices and aligns with our broader goals of creating social value and promoting employee well-being across the infrastructure sector.
As part of our commitment, we have introduced a formal Fostering Friendly Policy that supports both current foster carers and those considering stepping into this important role. This policy is an extension of our inclusive culture—one that values compassion, adaptability, and making a tangible difference in our communities.
Supporting Employees Who Foster
The responsibilities that come with foster care can be demanding, especially when combined with the pressures of a modern career. By implementing this policy, we aim to ease that burden with a proactive and understanding approach. Key features of our Fostering Friendly status include:
- Flexible working arrangements for foster carers and those undergoing the approval process
- Up to five additional days of paid leave, which may be used for training, attending meetings with social workers, or helping a child settle into their new environment
- Promotion of Foster Care Fortnightâ„¢, a national campaign run by The Fostering Network that raises awareness and celebrates the contributions of foster carers.
These practical measures ensure our team members can continue to excel professionally while fulfilling one of the most meaningful roles in society.
Why This Matters?
There are currently around 70,000 children in foster care across the UK. With an estimated shortfall of nearly 10,000 fostering households, the need for supportive employers has never been greater. Foster carers not only offer a safe and loving home to children, but they also help shape their futures through compassion, structure, and care.
At Auctus Management Group, we have a strong track record of engaging with organisations like Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust, showing our support for local children in care. Becoming a Fostering Friendly employer is a natural continuation of this commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
Infrastructure and Inclusivity Go Hand-in-Hand
Our work in rail, civils, and utilities centres on safety, innovation, and long-term impact. Whether delivering complex infrastructure packages or supporting the careers of those who build them, our mission is the same: to create value and legacy through everything we do.
By supporting foster carers in our workforce, we are reinforcing our values—inclusive, engaging, and driven—and contributing to a stronger, more compassionate society. We believe employers have a pivotal role to play in making foster care more accessible and sustainable for those willing to open their hearts and homes.
