AMG nominated for Women in Rail Social Value Award

AMG Shortlisted for Women in Rail Social Value Award

Auctus Management Group (AMG) is proud to announce its selection as a nominee for the Women in Rail Social Value Award. The nomination is a recognition of the company’s outstanding efforts in promoting social mobility and inclusion within the UK rail industry. The award honours organisations that have developed a strong and successful social value ethos in the rail industry and are actively reaching out to local communities to provide access to career opportunities in rail.

Proactive and Inclusive Approach

As a nominee for the Women in Rail Social Value Award, Auctus Management Group has demonstrated a proactive and inclusive approach towards diversity and social inclusion, focusing on creating a diverse and inclusive workforce to reduce the skills and age gap within the infrastructure sector. The ‘Journey into Rail’ programme is an integral part of its operational plan and targets underrepresented and disadvantaged communities, including women, minority ethnic groups, individuals with learning difficulties, and those who are not in employment, education, or training.

Prepare for a Career in Rail

The programme is funded through the Adult Education Budget, Black Country Impact, and Department for Work and Pensions. It provides candidates from local communities with the essential competencies needed to pursue a career in rail. The learners receive a blend of competencies, including Personal Track Safety AC/DCCR, Track Induction, Sharps and Needles, Conflict Management, IOSH (Working Safely), Manual Handling, CSCS, Environmental/Asbestos/Invasive Species Awareness, EDI, Spills Kit, OLEC1, Small Tools and Dust Mask Training. There is an opportunity to upskill further with additional training for roles such as Banksman, Traffic Marshall, Level Crossing Attendant or Points Operator.

Successful candidates are offered guaranteed interviews and a career pathway within their chosen division. These opportunities are provided through industry partners, including Midland Metro Alliance, Babcock, Network Rail, Vital, Amey, and Colas Rail.

Since its inception in 2018, this initiative has delivered over 348 new frontline staff with a workforce that has an average age of 35 and 66% of recent cohorts comprising people from minority groups.

Reaching out to Local Communities

Auctus Management Group’s efforts demonstrate our commitment to improving social mobility and inclusion for minority and disadvantaged groups, promoting diversity in the broad sense within the rail industry. By reaching out to local communities and providing access to career opportunities, Auctus Management Group has created a solid and successful social value programme that benefits both the industry and the wider community. Our success has significantly impacted the West Midlands, where the programme has supported the delivery of large-scale projects, including the Midland Metro Extension.

Positive Impact on the Rail Sector

“We are delighted to be shortlisted for the WIR Social Value Award. This nomination is a testament to our commitment to positively impacting the rail sector and local communities. Our training programme is a crucial part of our mission to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to create a more sustainable future. It is fantastic to be recognised for our efforts, and we will continue to work towards making a meaningful difference in the rail sector for everyone involved in the programme,” said CEO Richard Toy.
