Tipton Based – Full Time permanent position, up to £28k plus competitive benefits package

Our client is a team of planning, design and construction specialists building a number of new tram extensions across the West Midlands. Formed in 2016 to transform the West Midlands by delivering the best integrated transport system for the future. We work hard to be a best practice organisation, delivering stakeholder-focused services as it plans and delivers five Metro extensions across the region for the West Midlands Combined Authority.


What will I be doing?

You will work alongside the Plant Resource Coordinator in placing orders, resolving hire queries and keeping track of live kit across the project.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Loading orders onto the Coupa system where required by site ensuring request information is accurate and precise.
  • Proactively keeping track of the location of the hired kit across the different sections of the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill project.
  • Ensuring all on and off hire tickets are used to update the live plant tracker.
  • Communicating regularly with the site teams regarding hired plant and log exchanges on the tracker, keeping fleet numbers up to date.
  • Investigating all discrepancies immediately and making the Plant Resource Coordinator aware if any plant shown on the hire sheet is not found or is proved as off hired.
  • Dealing with any plant queries and passing on to the relevant managers for signature.
  • Reporting all damages and losses to the Plant Resource Coordinator and supplier.
  • Using supplier live hire reports to cross reference against the project tracker to ensure accuracy and to highlight any discrepancies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all documents, including procedures.
  • Being pro-active in developing systems to meet the changing needs of the plant hire team.


What hours will I be expected to work?

Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.


What experience would we like you to have?

To be selected for interview for this role your application will need to demonstrate

  • Knowledge of tools/plant.
  • Experience of working on an ordering/plant hire desk.
  • Finely tuned communication skills with regard to engaging with external and internal parties.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail with regard to contractual obligations and the placement of orders.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Evidence of a sound education which should include English and Maths GCSE at grade A-C or above, or equivalent.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of personnel.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
