Our client is a team of planning, design and construction specialists building a number of new tram extensions across the West Midlands. Formed in 2016 to transform the West Midlands by delivering the best integrated transport system for the future. We work hard to be a best practice organisation, delivering stakeholder-focused services as it plans and delivers five Metro extensions across the region for the West Midlands Combined Authority.


What will I be doing?

You will work as part of a pro-active and professional support team responsible for providing support to the project and monitoring and maintaining site cost and budget records. On a day to day basis your duties will include

  • Supporting the cost control function by processing Goods Received Notes (GRNS)
  • Recording of labour / plant / material and subcontract costs including site returns
  • Maintaining site cost records, GRN’s, plant tickets etc
  • Analysing / resolving invoice/ payment queries
  • Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with Valuation and Measurement of site progress
  • Monitoring of labour and plant utilisation/productivity
  • Supporting  the Commercial Manager with production of commercial reporting
  • Providing assistance with the procurement of Sub-Contractors from enquiry stage to final account
  • Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor with the pricing of variations
  • Cost control and administration
  • Collating and recording time sheets from Midland Metro Alliance organisations.
  • Input into Alliance Earned Value Management System
  • Monitoring of site expenditure, for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors


What hours will I be expected to work?

Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.


What experience would we like you to have?

To be selected for interview for this role your application will need to demonstrate

  • A Business, finance or construction commercial qualification (such as quantity surveying or commercial management) preferred
  • Working in a finance or commercial function within the engineering or construction sector
  • Knowledge of finance systems
  • Cost and budget administration
  • Financial and commercial reporting
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
